Pinchas "Péter" Goldstein

פינחס בן יהודה הכהן
פינחס הכהן · HaKohen · Zeidy's maternal grandfather · merged record v3.62

Single merged record (v3.62) — combines two earlier site entries that referred to the same man in two registers. The matzeiva (Gallery Era ii) names him in Hebrew/religious form as Pinchas Goldstein (פינחס גאלדשטיין) and the granite memorial plaque on Zeidy's matzeiva in Brooklyn carries the patronymic Milkah bas Pinchas HaKohen for his daughter Lina; earlier site copy from family memory had him in Hungarian/civil form as Péter Goldstein. The Hungarian/civil form for Pinchas was commonly Péter in this region (sharing the initial P-). Husband of Rochel "Róza" Goldstein (née Krausz); father of Lina Klein (née Goldstein) and Gizella Goldstein. A Kohen — Kohen status confirmed v3.61 by Eli Feig; the Kohanic priestly-blessing motif is consistent with the arch ornament on his matzeiva, and his daughter Lina is recorded as Bas Kohen on Zeidy's memorial plaque. Two photographs are now in the archive: a portrait of Pinchas (Gallery Era ii, added v3.59) and his matzeiva in the Tiszadob cemetery (Gallery Era ii, added v3.61). Birth year, death year, and parents not yet documented from the stone (the year letters are partly weathered). The legacy anchor /p/pinchas-goldstein.html still resolves to this card.
